Step1 Greetings and Free talk
Let students enjoy a video about the life of future with the question ”What impresses you most in the short video?” Students answer the questions according to some aspects of life: surroundings /transport/house and students have a free talk. And then ask students if you have a machine that can bring you to any age you want to go, what age do you want to go most? Why?
To learn the reading text :First Impressions.
Step2 Skimming:
Skim through the passage and get its general idea.
The passage is mainly about .
A. how Li Qiang was transported to the future.
B.how Li Qiang got to the future and his first impression of it.
C.what the life was like in the future.
D.the introduction of the “ Future Tours” company.
(suggested answer:B)
Step3 Scanning
Scan through the passage, try to get detailed information and then choose the best answers.
 According to the passage, why did Li Qiang take this future tour?(para.1)
A. Because he was curious about the year AD 3008.
B. Because he won a prize last year which offered this trip.
C. Because his parents were good friends with Li Mengxi.
D. Because his parents offered him a lot of money.
What is the purpose of having the green tablets? (para.1)
A. To forget one’s past experience.  
B. To help one fly to the future.
C. To help one calm down.
D. To provide one with much oxygen.
Let students to guess Li Qiang’s journey to the future
was pleasant or terrible. Ask students to find some adjective words to prove their guess.
The seats were comfortable and after a calming drink,
we felt sleepy and closed our eyes. The capsule began swinging gently sideways as we lay relaxed and dreaming.
A few minutes later, the journey was completed and we had arrived. I was still on the earth but one thousand years in the future. What would I find?
Answer :pleasant  comfortable  gently  relaxed
Scan the para3 and para4 and find the correct answer.

Read the third paragraph, then try to fill the blanks

Step 6 Summary:
Now try to find out what happened to Li Qiang before, during and after the journey and fill blanks

該班學生為學校中中等學生,英語基礎不是特別好,所以在設計問題的時候,只要求學生用課文中的原句來回答問題,課文閱讀過程中所設置的問題也較為簡單。

 2.全面準確理解文章,正確作答。
 3.引導學生運用所學知識預測未來,分析人類所面臨的種種問題,并發表自己的觀點。
